This advertising thing is OK, I guess, but the thing I've always wanted to do was basically, like, get paid for being me and talking about my opinions and my experience.
And finally, my wish has come true! At least to a certain extent.
For the last two months, I've been blogging for Creative Circle about my experience and expertise as an advertising professional. If you don't already know them, Creative Circle is like the Porsche of the creative staffing agencies, and they created a blog to offer more junior job seekers tips for getting and keeping a job in the industry.
So far, a couple of my favorites include this post discussing the merits of working at a small agency and this post about how Byzantine the hierarchy and job titles are in advertising.
I mean, it's not exactly "YOU GET A CAR, AND YOU GET A CAR, AND EVERYONE GETS A CAR!" But hey, I love being able to show off my writing skills and my experience in the business…especially if it helps someone else avoid some of my mistakes so they can land their dream job.
